In the twenty-two years since the passage of the Civil Rights Act of 1964 most major industries have opened their doors to Black executives. Not only are Black executives being hired, but many major corporations actively recruit Blacks to fill meaningful positions in corporate America. It is no longer surprising to find Black executives filling positions such as president, vice-president, or general counsel of major corporations and firms. It would be unrealistic, however, to believe that this social phenomenon would have occurred in the absence of civil rights legislation.
